Introducing Mainstay "It’s the Software That Matters" |
Mainstay is one of the original developers, publishers, and distributors of software for Macintosh™ and Windows™ computers. With headquarters in Camarillo, California, Mainstay has successfully marketed a line of software products for Macintosh and Windows worldwide. As the desktop computer has evolved into the powerful and sophisticated machine that it is today, Mainstay has concurrently supplied users with important products every step of the way. With the rapid evolution of the Internet, Mainstay’s current focus is on enhancing display, interactivity, and development on the world wide web. In August 1997, Mainstay released PageCharmer™ , a collection of customizable, interactive Java applets designed to give webpage designers WYSIWYG control of applet properties--right in a web browser. In the Fall of 1998, Mainstay released a second collection of Java applets, PageCharmer Pro™ , and JustEdit™--the hassle-free way to edit your web pages, right in a web browser. In early 1999, Mainstay released JustMail™, the first private web-based email client in a Java applet, and JustAddress Book™, the first personal web-based address book. Late in 1999, Mainstay opened MomentOfFame.com™, a free, fun, web-based service allowing anyone to share their special photographic moment with the world. A technology showcase for Mainstay's new OmniUpdate™ technology, MomentOfFame.com attracts hundreds of thousands of people displaying pictures in over 150 different categories. Whether customers use one product or the entire Mainstay line, Mainstay enjoys the reputation of a reliable company with a knack for developing well-designed, practical software. Mainstay’s products fit into two main categories: -- Internet Display, Interactivity, and Development -- Business and Workgroup Productivity |

Internet Display, Interactivity, and Development |
OmniUpdate.com™ (Web Content Management) lets non-technical staff directly contribute and update web page content for new products, press releases, job listings, event calendars, pricing information, news pages, key announcements, and more. Do all this online, right in your Browser. OmniUpdate is as simple to use as a word processor so it can be used by anyone, with no special training required. And it already works with your existing web site. From department managers to administrative staff, OmniUpdate enables businesses to draw from all areas of the organization. This results in a web site that reflects the combined knowledge and efforts of the organization. With no information bottlenecks, the web site is always up to date and better performs its mission critical role. |
| MomentOfFame.com™ (Free Web-Based Service) is a dynamic forum of pictures designed to give everyone their special moment. The object is just to have fun by sharing your pictures with others having similar interests. To facilitate this, pictures in MomentOfFame.com are categorized by subject. Using a standard email program, such as Microsoft Outlook Express(tm), anyone can send an email message to MomentOfFame.com enclosing a picture in JPEG or GIF format, and the image is automatically displayed in the user-selected category. The newest picture is displayed in full size until replaced by a later picture in the same category. Older pictures are reduced to thumbnails and eventually deleted from the system. Categories include topics such as fishing, children, parties, modeling, pets, graduations, etc. and anyone can suggest new categories and subcategories. |
|
PageCharmer™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) adds dynamic Java buttons, image maps, tickers, ad banners, marquees and other multimedia effects to your Web pages quickly and easily. It includes premade applets that are easily customizable to make Web pages come alive--without writing Java or JavaScript. Working in your web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Netscape Navigator), users simply input properties for the applets, and PageCharmer creates the effects in real-time right in the web page. Pasting the PageCharmer-generated applet code in any Web page, completes the process of adding the effect to a web site. With millions of display combinations that can be set with point-and-click ease, PageCharmer applets provide a truly unique display. PageCharmer also includes over 500 images and sound effects that you can use royalty-free. |
|
PageCharmer Pro™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) is a family of 22 customizable Java applets designed to offer a cross-browser, cross-platform, easy-to-use alternative to Dynamic HTML (DHTML). PageCharmer Pro Java applets offer DHTML, like control objects and interactive display "billboards and banners" that require no programming or scripting. PageCharmer Pro applets work in both Microsoft Internet Explorer™ and Netscape Navigator™ without modification. And PageCharmer Pro applets are WYSIWYG customizable in real-time through Mainstay's included AppletSet'r technology that works directly within the Web browser. Interactive control applets give you the ability to add rollover buttons and image maps with pop-up menus, while billboards give you the power of animated sprites, dozens of motion-control effects for graphics and text. Display billboards can be controlled interactively when a user clicks a live PageCharmer Pro button or image map. This is done via AppletEvents which are sent between and among various applets or, optionally, via JavaScript written in the HTML. Elements of the billboards can also react to events; for example, a click on a moving element within the billboard. Additionally PageCharmer Pro offers choreographed control of various applets which may be located anywhere in a Web page. The PageConductor applet provides autopilot event sequence control while the SoundConductor applet provides coordinated sound, voice and music among various applets. JustEdit™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) is the quick and painless way to edit your web pages anytime, anywhere, as often as you like. Imagine being able to correct a typo, update a headline, price, or date, and even correct a broken or changed link, on the fly, right in a browser! Using JustEdit, there's no need to start an FTP application, find a source file, or download the file from the web, start a web page editor, make the changes, save the changes, then re-upload the file. Now you can change the contents of any web page immediately, right in a web browser. Never again will you be wasting time by "round-tripping" web files back and forth to your web server, or needlessly searching for html files on your local hard disk! Or making a frantic call back to the office, trying to talk someone through making a change. JustEdit Plus™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) is the quick and painless way to edit your web pages anytime, anywhere, as often as you like. A set of editable fields can be set up in the applet to automatically edit intelligent tags on a target web page. The target web page is updated by simply filling in the blanks in the applet. This is ideal for web pages which maintain a basic form but have data that change frequently; for example, a price list. It also lets a relatively unskilled third party update pages, thus freeing the Webmaster from repetitive and tedious efforts. JustMail™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) JustMail is a quick and modern client that gives you access to your email anytime, anywhere--right in any Web browser. It's ideal for a person who travels and for anyone who uses more than one computer. JustMail is not an email service but rather utilizes your existing email account. This approach results in increased privacy and security compared to Web-based email services. Your personal data is never requested and your email name and password are never stored or entrusted to a third party! JustAddress Book™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) JustAddress Book, a personal web-based address book which is accessible anytime, anywhere, using only a web browser. JustAddress Book gives browser-based web access to a single, full-featured address book of important contacts. It eliminates the need to maintain multiple address books, often with out of date, or out of sync information. JustAddress Book gives anyone the power of a full-featured address book application in any web page, without requiring any server-side applications. JustProgress™ (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) JustProgress, is a set of Web-based Gantt chart applets used to plan, track and display project status. With an application-like look and feel, a project schedule is no longer limited to a static gif image display but becomes a dynamic tool to show your progress. JustProgress is an easy to use Java applet that works on the Web using any Java compatible Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator (version 4.0 or later), or the AOL browser (version 4.0 or later). |

Business and Workgroup Productivity |
MacFlow™ (Macintosh) and WinFlow™ (Windows) are flowchart design and development applications providing a simple and effective means for developing ideas in organized flowchart form. Users simply drag chart objects into place and connect them with flow lines. MacFlow and WinFlow provide ANSI-standard flowcharting symbols and more than 400 specialized symbols, as well as the ability to create custom symbols. Charts can be hierarchical. Double-clicking on a symbol in the chart can bring up a linked subchart. Any chart created with MacFlow can be used by WinFlow and vice versa. |

Company Management |
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Nalevanko caught the Apple II microcomputing bug in Paris in 1979 while working as a manager for Hughes Aircraft. When he returned to the U.S. in 1980, he started an export firm for microcomputing products in Los Angeles. This led to the creation of Mainstay in 1982. Nalevanko is a graduate of Penn State and UCLA. He is an avid pilot and can often be found at 7,500 feet--somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. He lives with his wife and daughter in Camarillo, California. |
