My custom sound won't play. |

If you are having problems creating custom sounds with CoolEdit then please follow the steps below.

First you need to run Cool Edit then open your sound file into the program.

Now choose 'Convert Sample Type' from the 'Edit' menu.

A dialog will appear like the one below
You need to make sure that the sample rate is set to 8000Hz and the channel is set to 'Mono' and the resolution is set to 8-Bit. Then click the OK button and the sound will be converted. |

Now choose 'Save As' from the 'File' menu. A 'Save As' dialog will appear. Now choose 'Next/Sun{*.au,*.snd} from the 'Save as Type' list option

Next click on the 'Options' button and make sure the 'mu-Law 8-bit' radio button is selected and click OK.![]() Now save the sound and place it in your 'sounds' folder. Now your sound will play. |
